CLOSE COUPLED INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

These units have been SPECIFICALLY Tested and Listed by Applied Research Laboratories to attach DIRECTLY to the discharge of:

Airtherm: 24AV, 36AV, 48AV, 60AV, 90AV & 120AV series air handlers.

Heaters are suitable for Zero Clearance, for use with the above mentioned Heat Pumps and Air conditioners with Horizontal air flow.

MODEL NUMBERS:

C-UNIT DESIGNATION -KW-PHASE @ VOLTS
KW range Min. 0.5, Max. - see chart. 120 - 480 volts, 1 or 3 phase.

Heaters must be at least 2 feet before an elbow or may require turning vanes. Duct materials must be suitable for 250 degrees F. Ducts must be installed in accordance with NFPA pamphlets 90A and 90B. Locate system so that heater is accessible after installation. Do not enclose the control box with insulation.

APPLICATION CHART:

Heater Unit Max. KW Duct Connection
C-24BH 24AV 9.0 12.13 X 8.88 inches
C-36BH 36AV 12.0 12.13 X 8.88 inches
C-48BH 48AV 15.0 14.13 X 9.63 inches
C-60BH 60AV 24.5 14.13 X 13.18 inches
C-90BH 90AV 24.5 16.88 X 13.38 inches
C-120BH 120AV 24.5 16.88 X 13.38 inches

Note: C-90BH & C-120BH are interchangeable with each other and are interchangeable with C-90BV & C-120BV

Important: Locate heater package so the elements are over the blower wheel discharge. If the baffle is over the wheel severe loss of air flow will result.

Secure heater to air handler with screws. Seal the connection with tape or other means.

CALCULATION INFORMATION

SEPARATE HEATER ELECTRICAL SUPPLY:

Heater Amps times 1.25 is minimum circuit ampacity. Minimum circuit ampacity rounded up to the nearest standard protective device rating is maximum circuit protection.

COMBINED ELECTRICAL SUPPLY - COOLING ONLY UNITS:

Heater amps times 1.25 plus 6 is minimum circuit ampacity. Minimum circuit ampacity rounded up the nearest standard protective device rating is maximum circuit protection. COMPARE to Air Conditioners Labe (Write in the LARGER of the two ratings.

COMBINED ELECTRICAL SUPPLY - HEAT PUMPS:

Add heater amps to Heat Pump minimum circuit ampacity for a new total minimum ampacity. Minimum circuit ampacity rounded up to nearest standard protective device rating is maximum circuit protection.

STANDARD PROTECTIVE DEVICE RATINGS:
10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 and 100 amps.

EXAMPLE:

Install a 47.1 amp heater in a heat pump and use combined single electric supply.

If Unit nameplate minimum circuit ampacity 35 - this makes the combined minimum ampacity (35 + 41.7) of 76.7 amps. 76.7 amps rounded up to nearest standard rating (80 amps). The combined maximum protective device is 80 A.
